Daniel P. Wasko, 58, of Warren passed away peacefully 6:15 AM Thursday Feb. 11, 2010 at Hospice House of Poland following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 29, 1952 in Warren the son of Paul Wasko and Grace (Blair) Knapp. He attended Warren G. Harding High School and served in the US Army getting honorably discharged in 1973 as a PFC. While in the service, he was an officer's chef and kitchen manager and after being discharged, Dan was a chef at various establishments in the Warren area including The Chariot, the original Mr. R's, Clancy's and Mackey's. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and he loved being around the water. He liked playing golf, was an excellent swimmer, and he enjoyed sail boating with his friend Jim Davies. He is survived by 2 children Daniel and Danette Wasko both of Warren, 2 sisters Sandra Bellay of Austintown, Deborah Butler of Warren, niece Karen (Randall) Isaac of West Bend, WI, nephew Patrick (Cindy) Bellay of Niles, and several great nieces and nephews including Lexi Isaac whom he fondly called "Short Round". He also leaves his good friend Hank Wingard of Howland Twp. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Barbara "Bata" Wasko, and a brother Thomas "Tim" Wasko. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday Feb. 15, 2010 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received for 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. James Walker will officiate. Interment will be in Champion Twp. Cemetery. The family requests material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House 9803 Sharrott Rd. Poland, OH 44514.
