David R. Logan, Jr. of Burghill, Ohio, formerly of Hartford Twp., Ohio, and Titusville, Florida, died at 3:25 PM Saturday (3-29-2008) in the UPMC Horizon Greenville Campus following an extended illness. He was 82. Mr. Logan was born in Petrolia, Pennsylvania on August 12, 1925, a son of David R. and Genevive (Buzzard) Logan, Sr. David went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army as a PFC during WWII. His decorations and citations include: European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Logan retired from Sherwin Williams Can Company, Hubbard in 1982 after 32 plus years as a Mechanic. He was a member of the Hartford United Methodist Church; and the F&AM Jerusalem Lodge #19, Hartford. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was a true craftsman with both wood and metal. Survivors include: his children, Pamela K. Maruskin & her husband Ken, Galena, OH, Vickie Zipay & her companion Jay Gibson, Harrisburg, PA, and David M. Logan & his wife Judith, Burghill, OH; his siblings, Robert Logan, Springdale, PA, and Maxine Himes, Grafton, OH; his five grandchildren, Christian & Scott Maruskin, Lori Hammond, and Jessica & Kaitlyn Logan; and his four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Abby, & Anastasia Maruskin, and Alexis Hammond. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, C. Val Jean (Jasper) Logan, whom he married November 14, 1947, she died November 26, 1996; by his close friend and traveling companion, Mary Krebs; by his brothers, Clarence & Donald Logan; and by his sisters, Mary Michael & Susanne Boyer. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday (4-2-2008) at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, Ohio, with Rev. John Benigas, officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery with full military honors. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the choice of the donor.
