David R. White

Services will be 11 AM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Girard for David R. White, 80, of Kenosha WI, formerly of Austintown who passed away Friday evening in Aurora Medical Center in WI. David was born August 27, 1929 in Girard the son of Robert Carl and Esther (Kennedy) White. He was an accountant with Universal Rundle in New Castle, retiring in 1978. Prior to his employment with Universal Rundle, David worked as an accountant with Hathaway Bakery for several years. He was a member of the church, where he served as the treasurer for more than 20 years, and a former member of the Odd Fellows of Mineral Ridge. He was an Army Veteran serving in the 11th Airborne Division. He was also an avid sports fan and was a baseball player for many years, bowler, golfer who had shot a hole in one. David leaves his “bride” of 58 years, the former Christine Allen whom he married November 1, 1951, one daughter Janette (Darrel) Jones with whom he made his home, one sister; Lillian White of McDonald, as well as four grandchildren; Jennifer (Dan) Fu, Justin Messer, Joshua (Brandie) Messer, and Mathew Jones and four great grandchildren; Lucas and Emily Fu, Randi Crouse, and Kayla Messer. Besides his parents, David is preceded in death by seven brothers; Harold, Robert, Clare, Raymond, William, Donald, and Jack White, and one sister; Dorothy Avry. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and again from 10 AM to 11 AM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the church in David’s name.
