David Severin Barbour

Rev. David S. Barbour of Youngstown, OH died at 10:50 AM Saturday at Campus Health Care Center. He was 71. Rev. Barbour was born in Yorkville, OH on Nov. 26, 1934, a son of Harry Festus and Helen Crouch Barbour. He served his country in the United States Army. David graduated from Muskingum College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree, he attended West Liberty College in West Virginia, and University of Maryland extension courses in Germany while he served in the Army, he graduated with a masters degree in Divinity from Methodist Theological in Delaware, OH, and a second masters degree in education administration from Youngstown State University. Rev. Barbour served at many churches including Otsego - Prospect, Gustavus Federated, Sugar Creek – Union Hill Methodist, North Lima United Methodist, Coalburg United Methodist Church, Brookfield Christian and Slope Congregational Churches. David was also employed by the city of Youngstown. He was an accomplished musician, playing piano, organ, and guitar, he also was a vocal soloist. One of David’s principles was lifelong learning. He was an avid book collecter. Survivors include: his wife, Rosemarie “Miriam” Doeppert Barbour, whom he married, Dec. 5, 1959; 1 sister, Mrs. Helen (Harry) McGlothin of Wheeling, WV; 2 brothers, Albert Barbour of Yorkville, OH, and James Barbour of Wheeling, WV. He was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 brothers, Richard, Glenn and Harry Barbour. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel, with Rev. Bruce Irwin. Calling hours will be from 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Austintown Chapel. Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery. Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH handled the arrangements.
