David X O'Connor

David X. O'Connor Sr. 87, of Howland, OH passed away on early Friday morning April 5, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on December 28, 1925 in Sewickley, PA a son of the late Peter A. and Elizabeth (Angus) O'Connor. David served our country with the 3704th Army Air Forces Base Unit during World War II and also served as a Sgt. with 8th Infantry Division of the US Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1952, David went on to marry the former Susan Bubb on February 19, 1955 and together they would share more than fifty-eight years of marriage and their seven children. Mr. O'Connor had worked for Schaefer Equipment and then the former Copperweld Steel as a maintenance supervisor before his retirement in 1987. He was an avid sports fan but was affectionately known as the "Greatest Steelers Fan" for the team he loved so dearly. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. David who was known as "Pop", will be sadly missed by his wife Susan; his children Kathleen "Kathy" (Michael) Yule of Fredericksburg, VA, Peggy O'Connor (Ed Anthony) of Peabody, MA, David (Debbie) O'Connor Jr. of Warren, OH, Peter "Pete" (Marge) O'Connor of North Royalton, OH, Patrick (Debbie) O'Connor of Sharpsville, PA, Maureen O'Connor of Warren, OH, and Michael (Carla) O'Connor of Erie, PA; eighteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and his former daughter-in-law Michelle Friesen and former son-in-law Chuck Nelson also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters. A time of gathering will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00PM at the Roberts-Clark Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes at 180 Garfield Drive Warren, Ohio 44483 As expression of sympathy, the family requests that any memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Rehabilitation Center in David's Memory.
