Delair J. Henry passed away Wednesday October 28, 2009 at the Inn at Christine Valley. He was born in Heilwood, PA on November 25, 1919, a son of the late John T. and Maye Bender Henry. He was a WWII Veteran, serving with the 989th Field Artillery Battalion, attached to General Patton's 3rd Army. He moved to Youngstown in 1948, and worked for General Fireproofing retiring in 1984. He is survived by two sisters, Frances (Charles) Mellott of North Carolina, and Cora Empfield of Indiana, PA; a brother Gene (Juanita) Henry of Canfield; a sister in law: Mary Henry of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Helena Denning Henry; sisters: Helen Bennett, and Iva Mitchell; and brothers: Donald, Jay, Wilmer, Dwight (WWII Veteran) and Dean (WWII Veteran, KIA in the Battle of the Bulge). The family would like to thank The Inn at Christine Valley and MVI Hospice for wonderful service and care given to Delair. Calling hours will be from 1 PM until 2 PM Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, where funeral services will be at 2 PM. Interment will be held at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, or VFW Post 9571, Ellsworth, OH 44416, in Delair's name.
