Dennis B Allen

Dennis B. Allen, age 70 of Champion Township, died Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2011, at Hospice House in Poland following a long battle with cancer. He was born September 17, 1941 in St. Petersburg, Florida the son of the late Howard and Catherine Anderson Allen. Dennis served with the Army in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Gallantry Cross with a silver star. He served 12 1/2 years from 1958 until 1973. He retired in February 2000, after working 27 years at General Motors, Lordstown. Dennis was of the Methodist faith. He was an extremely avid golfer and had golfed on the General Motors team in past years. He was a Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Indians fan. Dennis is survived by his wife, Martha B. Bowser Allen, whom he married July 13, 1974; three daughters, Lisa (Ernie) Galgozy of Champion, Shannan (Jamie) Rushing of Southaven, Miss. and Tara (Barry) Caldwell of Olive Branch, Miss.; three sons, Scott (Rachel) Allen of Cortland and Jeff (Jessica) Allen and Russell Allen both of Southaven, Miss.; 15 grandchildren, Amber and Kara Caldwell, Jamie, Holli and Alex Rusing, Tyson, Tess, Tawney, John Paul and Max Allen, Skyler Allen, Katie and Joshua Galgozy and Addison and Nolan Allen; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Linda (Nobel) Sarofim of Dale City, Va. and his mother-in-law, Bertha Bowser of Champion. His parents and one brother, Richard Allen have all preceded him in death. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Pastor Jay Eastman will officiate. Burial will be at Champion Township Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
