CANFIELD- Dennis "Denny" James Clever, 72, went home to be with his Lord, August 7, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born February 11, 1941 to the late Frank Keel Clever Sr. and Verna Mae (Phillips) Clever in Youngstown, OH. Denny was well known as an Austintown Police Officer for 25 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of Highway Tabernacle Church and he enjoyed volunteering with the Sonshine Ministry. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police lodge 126. Denny was an avid dog lover, especially his Boxer. He also loved spending time outdoors, whether it was bird watching, hunting deer and small game, and fishing. Denny was also proud to have never missed the Canfield Fair. Denny will be missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy (Proverbs) Clever. He is also survived by his daughters, Renee (James) Nagy, and Ronda (James) Nitzsky; grandchildren, Nancy and Kory Cooper, James and Zachary Nagy, and Austin, Colten, and Hunter Nitzsky; and his sister, Margaret Holden. Denny is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Verna Clever; brother, Frank Keel Clever Jr.; and his sister, Helen Jean Pritchard. The family would like to give special appreciation to the ministry of Rich and Patt Kowal and everyone that showed their love and support during this time. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 11, from 1-4PM at Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel and Monday, August 12, from 10-11AM at Highway Tabernacle Church. A service will take place Monday at the church beginning at 11AM. Interment to follow at 4-Mile Run Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Rd., Youngstown, OH, 44515.
