AUSTINTOWN: Derek F. Bajgier, age 67, died Sunday following a declining period of health. Born September 29, 1945 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; he was the son of Frank and Alice (Grolla) Bajgier. Derek lived most of his adult life in the Youngstown area but grew up in Trafford, Pa. He retired from Pitney Bowes Company. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard; NRA; and the National Rifle and Pistol Association of North Jackson where he participated in the Cowboy Action Shooting. He loved hunting especially in Pennsylvania and the Dubois area. Derek gave the gift of life through tissue donation upon his death. Survivors include his wife, Patti (Booty) whom he married on October 4, 1992; daughters: Sherry (Brad) Forward of Niles and Danielle (Tim) Bailey of Austintown; grandchildren: Kayla, Brooke, and Taylor Bailey; step-children Andrea Engel of Columbiana, Leslie (Mark) Dirienzo of Berlin Center, and Michael (Michele) Hughes of New Middletown; step-grandchildren: Brittany and Kailee Engel, Courtney Hughes, and Dante Dirienzo; mother-in-law Grace Booty, and brother-in- law Harry W. Booty III. He will also be sadly missed by his dogs Maggie and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends will be received on Thursday from 1-3PM at the Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 Racoon Rd. Austintown, where a Memorial Service will take place at 3:00PM.
