Donald D Lamp

Donald D. Lamp, 97, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. Don was born on September 1, 1916 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late, Ida J. (Wilson) and Andrew J. Lamp. On February 1, 1948, Don married the love of his life, Marian (Ralston) Lamp. Don worked at Packard Electric as an Artos Cutter for 23 years, retiring in 1978. He also worked for the Howland school district as a bus driver. Don was a member of the Howland Community Church where he served as a Deacon and was a choir member. He was a member of the Vienna VFW and Car Barn Heathens in East Liverpool, Ohio. He was part of a small group of people to not only score one hole-In-one, but three. Don also played guitar and painted. Donald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian Lamp; children, Dennis (Lois) Lamp of Cortland, Stephen Lamp/Lucas McCartney of Niles, and Jill (Phil) Pegg of Vienna; daughter in law, Jenny Lamp of Warren; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sister, Olive Allen of Niles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald B. Lamp and daughter in law, Karen Lamp. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts- Clark Chapel (180 Garfield Dr) at 11:00am with Pastor Cynthia Klingemier officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the funeral home from 5:00- to 7:00pm as well as 10:00 to 11:00am on Wednesday, prior to services. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park following services with Military honors. The family would like to thank Autumn Hills Care Center and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and commitment in caring for Donald.
