Donald Louis Waldron

Donald Louis Waldron, age 59 of Howland Township, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011, at his home. He was born April 1, 1951 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania the son of Louis and Virginia L. Hamblin Waldron. Don finished his secondary education in Howland and in recent years returned to live there. Don was a 1969 graduate of Howland High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He received a basketball scholarship to Western Kentucky University and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, minoring in anthropology. During his college basketball years, he was a member of the 1971 Final Four team. Don retired as International Manager of PC&L in July 2007 from Delphi Packard Electric, where he worked for 33 years. He traveled extensively with Delphi, working at operations in El Paso, Argentina, Laredo, China, Brazil, Warren and Mississippi. Recently, he has worked in Laredo, Texas as a consultant for Gonzales Contracting. Don was of the Catholic faith. He played basketball and volleyball on area leagues. He enjoyed going to casinos and maintained his interest in anthropology. Don loved cooking, trying foods from different countries and eating at eclectic restaurants. He loved traveling, was an avid reader and believed in acquiring as much knowledge as possible. Don is survived by his wife, Delilah M. "Dee" Pflager Waldron, whom he married June 19, 1978; his parents of Howland; two daughters, Stacey L. Fisher of Howland and Daelle J. (Gary) Gearhart of Champion Twp.; one son, Jason L. (Lisa Bunnell) Waldron of Newton Falls; five grandchildren, Austin Waldron, Aubrey and Autumn Fisher, Katarra Waldron and Taylor Gearhart; three sisters, Malinda Palm and Pamela (Ray) Anderson both of Warren and LaDonna Lang of Howland; two brothers, Kenneth Waldron of Florida and Kevin (Megan) Waldron of Niles and two brothers-in-law, Mark Pflager of Warren and Gorden Pflager of Toledo. Fifteen nieces and nephews also survive. One brother, Dale E. Waldron preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where a memorial service will precede at 4:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown 44512-2198.
