Donald R. Yarnell

November 6, 1946 — April 4, 2014

Donald R. Yarnell Jr. of Brookfield Township, OH left peacefully to continue his next journey on Friday evening April 4, 2014. He was sixty-seven years old. Don was born on November 6, 1946 in Warren, OH, the son of Donald R. and Kathleen (Bullock) Yarnell Sr.. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force following graduation. He served Our Country from 1965 until 1968 before his honorable discharge. Don retired as a stocker and machine operator from the former CSC Ltd. in Warren, with twenty-four years of service. After his retirement, Don was a full-time Landlord and owned a lawn care business. His interests included golfing, hunting and shooting, crossword puzzles, as well as being an avid collector. His laugh was infectious and he loved spending time with his family, including his many friends. Don served as a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America and greatly enjoyed helping everyone in any way that he was able. He was a member of the former Second Christian Church in Warren, also serving as Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He is a current member of the South Pymatuning Community Church in Sharpsville. He leaves behind his wife the former Carol Martinko whom he married on August 12, 2000; his son Collin J. Yarnell of Cortland; two step-daughters Laura Berena of Howland, OH and Sharon Brant and her husband Kevin of Brookfield; brother Nick Yarnell and his wife Betty of Westerville, OH; two sisters Gloria J. Phillips of Apollo Beach, FL and Cheryl A. Olson of Brandon, FL; four step-grandchildren Ryan Brant and his wife Leah, Jason Brant, Holly Brant, and Hailey Cassidy; two step-great grandchildren Tyler and Kinley Brant; several nieces, his nephew and several great-nieces. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and by his son Kyle R. Yarnell in 1987. Friends may visit from 5-7:00PM on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at the Madasz Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes in Brookfield, OH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Rev. David Searle of South Pymatuning Community Church officiating. Donations may be made in Don's honor to either the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Heart Association.
