Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Donna Lou McCaughan, 81, who died Thursday afternoon at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born August 17, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of Harold D. and Mae (Wyllie) Watkins. She was a 1947 graduate of Youngstown South High School. She worked at Strouss Department Store in Austintown where she was the manager of budget shoes for ten years before retiring in 1987. She had also been part owner and operator of Jay Dees Tavern in Hubbard with her husband from 1978-1987. She was of the protestant faith and she enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She married James E. McCaughan on April 15, 1951 and he preceded her in death March 17, 1984. She is survived by a son, Daniel D. McCaughan of Wexford; and six siblings; Janice Brininstool of Charleston, WVa, Thomas Watkins of Hubbard, Martha Griffith of Austintown, and Raymond Watkins, Richard Watkins, and Joyce Schiraldi, all of Hubbard. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Cathy Ann McCaughan; and five brothers; Harold "Bud", John, Ralph, Charles, and Edward Watkins. Friends may call from 4-7pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Donna Lou's memory.
