Doreen I. Cavaliere

Doreen Ivy Cavaliere, age 91 of Austintown, Ohio, died on February 14, 2015 at 10:45 AM at Briarfield Manor. She was born on March 10, 1923 in London, England, the daughter of the late Horace and Ivy Stewardson. Doreen retired in 1988 from the Canfield School System after 20 years of service teaching 5th Grade. She had attained both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education with Honors from Youngstown State University. Prior to her career as an Educator, Doreen was an actress appearing on the stage in London and Colchester, England as well as on Broadway and Shakespeare in the Park in New York City. She also appeared in several motion pictures including "Caesar and Cleopatra" and "Quiet Weekend". Mrs. Cavaliere served in the British Army during WWII. Her memberships included the British Wives Club; Mahoning County Herb Club; Mahoning County Rose Society; Fellows Riverside Gardens, where she also judged floral shows and worked at the library in the gardens-she was a Master Gardener. Survivors include her children, Rodney (Joan) Cavaliere of Austintown, and Dr. Charles (Lisa) Cavaliere, Sr. of Oldsmar, FL; four grandchildren, Doreen Durkin, Adrienne Fornes (Jeff), Taylor Rose Cavaliere, and Charles Cavaliere, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Keith and John Stewardson both of London, England. Other than her parents, Doreen was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank Cavaliere; and one brother, Rodney Stewardson. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday February 28, 2015 at the Lane Family Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel, where family and friends will celebrate Doreen's life. All are invited to gather at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Green Haven Memorial Cemetery in Canfield.
