Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church for Doris L. Dunning, 97, who died early Friday morning at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born January 2, 1913 in Youngstown, a daughter of Edgar Welsh and Bess (Metz) Welsh Montgomery, and she resided in this area all of her life. She was a 1931 graduate of Youngstown South High School. She worked in sales for Furniture Land in Youngstown for more than 20 years before retiring in 1976. She was a longtime member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church and was currently its oldest living member. She was also a member of the Friends of Boardman Library, the AARP of Canfield, and the Junior Wimodaughsis Club. She was a devoted mother and she loved her family dearly. She was married to Carl F. Dunning for more than 50 years and he preceded her in death March 22, 1983. She is survived by two children; Dr. Donald C. (Rosemary) Dunning of North Royalton, and Donna Lee (Michael) Coman of Canfield; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Kenneth Welsh, and a sister Barbara Adgate. Friends may call from 2-4pm Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of The Valley or to the Canfield Presbyterian Church.
