A mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Dorothea Jean Detwiler, 82, of Austintown who passed away Monday in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Dorothea was born May 6, 1924 in Youngstown the daughter of Albert J. and Helen (O’Connor) Weimer. She was a graduate of Wilson High School and had worked as a manager in the China Gift and Lamp Department for Strouss Department Store from 1967 to1977. Dorothea also worked as an operator for the Ohio Bell Phone Company and sold Avon. She attended the church and enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, and crafting. Besides her husband, Jay H. Detwiler, whom she married May 24, 1947 she leaves three daughters: Linda Tressler of Mineral Ridge, Nancy (William) Kunkle of Canfield, and Patricia (Regis) Strohmeyer of McDonald. Dorothea also leaves six grandchildren: William Kunkle Jr., Debra Shasteen, Michelle Merolla, D.J. Tressler, Emily and Hannah Strohmeyer, and five great grandchildren: Kristina and Kyle Kunkle, Lakota Himes, Hayley Shasteen, and Sophia Merolla.
