Dorothy A Delahunty

Dorothy A. "Dottie" Delahunty, 74, of Cortland passed away peacefully at 11:45 AM Saturday Jan. 28, 2012 at her home following an extended illness. Dottie was born Nov.18, 1937 in Carrollton, KY the daughter of the late William and Grace (Floyd) Allen. A lifetime area resident she was a 1955 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She was employed as a secretary at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for 15 years and then as payroll supervisor at Copperweld Steel for 19 years retiring in 2000. Dottie enjoyed reading and was a member of St. Roberts Catholic Church of Cortland where she was a member of the bowling league. Whether canoeing a river, rafting a rapid, boating on a lake, walking the sands of an ocean surf, or relaxing overlooking the pond, Dottie relished her time near the water. She will be deeply missed by her husband Edward Delahunty whom she married Jan.13, 1990 and 2 sons William (Barbara) Gacura of Newton Falls and Michael (Kimberly) Gacura of Warren. She also leaves 2 grandsons Gregory and Matthew and a brother Thomas Allen of Warren. She was preceded in death by a sister Betty Allen. Per her wishes, Dottie was cremated and her ashes will be interred at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. There will be a memorial service 11:00 AM Sat. Feb. 4, 2012 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received for 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. Carl Kish will officiate. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512.
