Dorothy Emma Jackson

Mineral Ridge-Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2006 in the Lane Funeral Homes Mineral Ridge Chapel for Dorothy E. Jackson of Niles Carver Rd, who passed away Friday, January 13, 2006 at 9:20 PM in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Dorothy was 87. Dorothy was born on July 9, 1918 in Wellsville, Ohio and was the daughter of Donald and Leona (DeVaul) Reed and lived in the area all of her life. Dorothy was a homemaker and had previously worked for 20 years at Memory Lane at the Eastwood Mall and at GNC also in the Eastwood Mall. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Evansville Baptist Church, where she was a church clerk for many years, a Sunday school teacher, and was a choir member. Dorothy was also formerly a reporter for the Niles Times, having reported in the local news section. Dorothy was married on May 7, 1935 to George A. Jackson Sr., he preceded her in death on September 27, 1984. Dorothy is survived by four children Betty Jean (Paul) Tucke of San Antonio, TX, George A. (Nancy) Jackson Jr., with whom she made her home; Ronald L. (Sally) Jackson of Austintown; and Thomas W. (Sue) Jackson of Mineral Ridge; two sisters Evelyn Metcalf of San Jose, CA; and Meryle McCormick of Cuppertino, CA; a brother Edward Reed of Salem; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother Ralph Reed. Family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2006 in the funeral home. Interment will take place in Green Haven Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the church.
