Dorothy Ford

Mrs. Walter (Dorothy) Ford Sr. – 73 Austintown—A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 9 PM Wednesday evening at Stacy Pavilion in Austintown Park for Dorothy Ford, 73, who passed away peacefully Sunday morning in Forum Health Northside Hospital. Dorothy was born July 16, 1930 in Youngstown the daughter of Leonard and Dorothy (Riley) Matthews and was a life long area resident. She was a secretary with Oakes & Berger retiring in 1990. Prior to that she worked for several years for Peoples Drugstore as a clerk in both Youngstown and later in Boardman. Dorothy was also an avid golfer with her husband and family, as well as a life long supporter of her husband’s athletic career. Her husband Walter S. Ford Sr. whom she married August 17, 1949 passed away January 17, 2001. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children; Dottie (Rich) Zitello of Austintown, Marsha (David) Karzmer of Boardman, Barbara Ford of Pittsburgh, and Walter S. (Joan) Ford Jr. of Austintown. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Gia (Ralph) Clinkscale, Brent Zitello, Niki and Sara Ford all of Austintown, Jonah, Justin, Carly and Jordan Karzmer of Boardman, great grandchildren: Ralphie and Rhya Clinkscale, two nieces, one nephew, and her faithful companion Matty her dog. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 9 PM Wednesday at the pavilion. The family request memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Wally Ford Sr. Baseball Scholarship Fund at Austintown Fitch High School in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are by the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
