Dorothy Frances Wilson

Dorothy Frances (Petko) Wilson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 1, 2014, at the home of her son, John Wilson, in Cortland. Dorothy was born April 18, 1926 in Connellsville, PA, a daughter of the late John J. and Mary Sweda Petko. Dorothy and her husband, Bart D. Wilson Sr., moved their family to Warren in 1955. She and her family ran the Slovak Club on Larchmont Ave. in Warren for many years in the late 1960's and 1970's. She retired from Warren City Schools where she worked in the cafeteria at East Jr. High School and Central Kitchen. Family was the most important thing to Dorothy and she was the biggest supporter and fan of her children and grandchildren. "Gram" or "Bubba", as she was affectionately know, never missed a birthday or Christmas present for her ever-growing family, and she looked forward to Wednesday lunches with any family member who could attend. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Bart D. Wilson Jr.; brothers Steve, John Joseph, Andrew, and Albert Petko; sisters Agnes Falton, Elizabeth Kornick, and Helen McFarland. She is survived by two sisters, Catherine Zitney and Evellyn Kontra; sons John J. (Jackie) Wilson of Cortland, with whom she made her home, and Harry J. Wilson, of Warren; daughters Elaine (Richard) Thomas of Warren, and Dianne (Michael) Deniakis of Howland, 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts-Clark Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland on Friday, June 6 at 11 a.m. The family requests material tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society 525 N.
