Dorothy Jane Gilmore

Dorothy Jane Gilmore, age 91, of Howland, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on April 9, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank E. Beach and the late Grace Owings Beach. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Vienna High School and was an active member of the Howland Community Church since 1951. She was a member of the Womens Fellowship and had served as church deaconess. Besides working as a homemaker, Dorothy had worked a Walden Books in the Eastwood Mall, retiring in 1985 and had worked previously as an office clerk at Allied Metals in Niles. She was an active parent in the Warren Junior Military Band, serving on the travel committee and secretary during the 1970's. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting and cross stitch and was active in several card clubs. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her husband, Roland W. Gilmore, whom she married on September 3, 1949, preceded her in death on August 17, 2007. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Virginia) Gilmore of Howland and by her daughter, Natalie (Robin) Sanders of Bazetta. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Timothy, Justin and Jacob Gilmore, Matthew Sanders and Corrine (Andrew) Dyett, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Jane Gilmore and a sister, Mary Lou Walters. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5PM 8PM at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr., Warren, OH 44483. Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11AM at the Howland Community Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
