Dorothy Jean Overdorf

Dorothy Jean Overdorf, age 88 of Youngstown, Ohio, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Austinwoods Care Center at 12:00 PM. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Daniel and Grace Hauge McMichael. Dorothy was a homemaker. She loved having a good time, people would call her vivacious, she loved spending time with her family and dancing. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Jean Shackelford of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Steven (Amber) Durrett of Poland, Carrie (Scott) Whitehouse of Poland, Kelly Garl of Oregon, and Jill Overdorf of Arizona; and five great-grandchildren, Shaun, Garrett, Carissa, Rhianna, and Delaney. Other than her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Overdorf, Sr., whom she married on August 17, 1946, he preceded her on November 12, 2009; her son, Ernest S. Overdorf, Jr.; son-in-law, Robert Shackelford; and six siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel, where Mr. Michael Collier will celebrate Dorothy's life. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 5-7 PM and again on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Youngstown.
