D. Lucille Culp, 86 Austintown: Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at West Austintown United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave., for D. Lucille Culp, 86 of Austintown who died Sunday afternoon at Briarfield Manor with her family at her side. Lucille was born June 10, 1927 in Hubbard, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Lottie Lewis Swauger and was a lifelong area resident. Dorothy graduated from Austintown Fitch High School and was the cafeteria manager for the Austintown Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of West Austintown United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, baking and playing cards. She leaves her husband, Malvern H. Culp, whom she married June 23, 1950; three sons, Malvern J. (Janice) Culp of Austintown, Kevin R. (Debbie) Culp of Boardman, Raymond C. (Barbara) Culp of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; her daughter, Zana L. (David) Short of Canfield; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Culp, James Culp, Kristie Gross, Kevin Culp, Bruce Shaffer, Jacob Short, Bethany Culp, Rebecca Culp, Megan Culp, Raymond Culp and 7 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Schell. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of Briarfield Manor and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care.
