Dorothy M. Walters

May 29, 1928 — July 18, 2012

Dorothy M. (Flowers) Kuhn-Walters Passed peacefully from this world to her heavenly home this day, July 18, 2012 at the age of 84. Born in Uniontown, PA to Adolph, Sr & Veronica (Kurnava) Flowers (Cvetko). She graduated from Chaney High School in January 1947 as Salutorian of her class. Dorothy was a strong woman of faith, who faced life's trials & tribulations with the courage and grace that can only come from her Heavenly Father. Even this last battle was waged with that same determination, courage & grace. She freely told anyone who would listen how blessed her life had been, even though, in review, she had her share of struggles & grief. She worked at the Y.M.H.A until starting her family & staying at home to work. She went back to work as the Secretary of Wickliffe Christian Church, where she was a member of the congregation since 1940. She served at this church as the president of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and was the adult and children's choir director before retiring in 1977 to spend the winters in Punta Gorda, FL. She was a member of the Burnt Store Road Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda, where she sang in their choir. She was also a 60-year member of the SNPJ Lodge 153. Left to cherish her example and memory are her children: son, Mark Kuhn Sr (Mary) of TX, daughter Debra (Clark) Fynes of Austintown, daughter Amy (David) Walters-Vargo of Westerville, OH. Grandchildren Mark (Michelle) Kuhn Jr of TX, Thomas (Catherine) Clark of Hartville, OH, Jason Clark of Warren, OH, and Jessica, Zachary, Catherine & Michael Vargo of Westerville, OH, and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Marian Flowers of Poland OH, sister, Donna (Ken) Edinger of Rockville MD, brothers Robert (Lucia) Flowers of Antioch, CA & James (Jeanne) Cvetko of Alexandria, VA. Preceding her in death were her parents, her 1st husband Vergil Kuhn, 2nd husband Presslye Walters, brother, Al Flowers Jr., and grandson George Kuhn. Special thanks to her caregivers while she was at home, and to the Hospice Home, and Hospice House staff for their kindness & support during a very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, send memorial gifts to Wickliffe Christian Church, Austintown, OH or Burnt Store Rd Presby. Church, Punta Gorda, FL, or Hospice House, Poland, OH. The family will receive friends & family at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Friday 5-8pm. A celebration of life service will be held at Wickliffe Christian Church on Saturday at 10am. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman.
