Dorothy May "Dot" Bell, 85 of Cortland, died Monday morning, June 29, 2015, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born in Warren, the daughter of the late William George and Ruby M. Allison Zimmerman. Dot was a mother of three wonderful children and a loving wife. On Monday, with her family by her side, she asked to go home to be with the Lord. While Dot is no longer with us, her light and laughter shine on in all those who knew her. Dot had a gift for cooking, sewing, crafts, creating flower arrangements, gathering with friends and always seeing the best in people and in life. She had for many years battled with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and cancer. Her passion for life and her wonderful friends and family kept her on this earth for 85 years. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Cortland. Dot was a 1948 January Class graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Warren Business College. She worked a brief time in the early 1950's at Packard Electric in Warren. She then went on to become a district sales manager for Avon Products for 10 years. Dot also volunteered at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital for over 30 years, where she became an officer in the Hillside Auxiliary and enjoyed purchasing for the hospital gift shop. Dot is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Robert E. Bell, whom she married in 1951; two children, Lucinda (Mark) Frankie of Raleigh, NC and Douglas (Kim) Bell of Columbus; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) McHenry of Raleigh, Jason (Michelle) Frankie of Rosedale, Maryland and Curtis (Lily) Frankie of Holly Springs, NC and three great grandchildren, Tristan Frankie, Maddox Frankie and Vivienne Frankie. Besides by her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis David Bell in 1976. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Cortland, where the family will greet friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service Friday. Pastor Denise Gundersen will officiate. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
