Private services will be held at a later date for Douglas Eaton Valantine, 86, of Masury, formerly of Youngstown who passed away Thursday evening at Joan Orange Village Care Center. Doug was born May 13, 1926 ub Detroit, MI, the son of Arthur and Muriel (Eaton) Valantine. He was a Supervisor with General Motors retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran and was a member of 1st Free Will Baptist Church in Austintown. Doug was also a former member of the Canfield Lions Club, and was an avid bowler at Wedgewood Lanes, and he also enjoyed golfing. Doug leaves three daughters, Cheryl Cole of New Castle, Debra Bryn of Cape Coral, FL, and Darcy (Tim) Garboski of Franklin, MA. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Valantine, one daughter, Christine Davidson, one brother, Walter Valantine, and two sisters, Elaine Just and Faye Duernburgher. There are no calling hours. Arrangements were by Lane Family Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests material tributes take the form of donations to Southern Care Hospice in Douglas' name.
