Canfield-Visiting hours will be Sunday 5-8 pm at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Duane Delahunt who died Thursday following a courageous battle with diabetes. Duane was born July 4, 1933 in Oneida New York the son of Norman and Doris (Pease) Delahunt and grew up on the shores of Oneida Lake in Bernhards Bay, New York and moved to Canfield in 1965. He graduated from Clarkson College in 1955 with a business degree in accounting. Duane was employed for General Motors in Massena and Buffalo New York before transferring to Lordstown in 1966 where he was a Senior Auditor for 35 years retiring in 1987. He was a US Army veteran earning the rank of First Lieutenant; he served in the reserves until 1968 retiring as Captain 03. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Maria (Toplek) whom he married September 12, 1970; children Erika and Erik both of Canfield and Duane II. Of Youngstown, his mother Doris of Bernhard’s Bay New York sister Donna (Al) Shively of Pennelville, New York, nephews; Tom, Jeff and Randy and a niece Pamela. Duane was preceded in death by his father Norman, grandmother Estella Pease, cousin Estella Haple, uncle George Davis and cousin Carol Wright who died in August. Duane will be remembered for his love, devotion, friendship and support given to his entire family throughout his life. Funeral services will be held at the Watson Funeral Home in Central Square, New York.
