Services will be held 1 PM Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel for Edith B. Caputo, 92, of Champion, formerly of Youngstown and Liberty Twp. Edith passed away Friday, January 8, in Windsor House at Champion. She was born November 15, 1923 in Youngstown the daughter of Fred and Charlotte (Rouse) Cowling. She was a graduate of The Rayen School class of 1942, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edith was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and had been a volunteer at Northside Hospital in the gift shop. She was also a member of the Liberty Mothers Club, and had played piano. Edith enjoyed sewing, knitting, and embroidering, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren who lovingly called her Nanny. Edith also enjoyed traveling. She and her husband Lawrence traveled to England where she was able to search her family history and visit the home of her father. Edith leaves two sons, Richard Caputo of Richmond, VA, and James (Lisa) Caputo of Austintown, four grandchildren, James Caputo, Lauren Caputo, Nicholas Caputo, and Anthony (Monique) Sangialosi. Her husband, Lawrence Caputo, whom she married September 27, 1944, passed away September 7, 1994. Edith was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Cowling. Friends may call from 12 Noon until 1 PM Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
