Earl L Smith

Earl L. Smith, age 74, of Bristolville, passed away Saturday evening, January 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Health Care Center after a short battle with cancer. He was born on December 13, 1937 in Richman, OH, a son of the late Raymond L. Smith and the late Violet Hall Smith. Earl retired from WCI in 1993 and was a member of the Bristolville Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed hunting and solving different kinds of puzzles. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Earl is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Duncan Smith, whom he married on July 16, 1957; two sons, Donald (Paula) Smith of Bristol and Raymond (Dora) Smith of Cherry Valley, four daughters, Karen (Gregory) Porter of Greene, Brenda (Donald) Boyles of Soddy Daisy, TN. and Lorrie Hurst of Champion, Pamela (Thomas) Cunningham of Bristol, a brother, Ernest (Lois) Smith of Mecca, sister, Patricia Holden of Florida and two step-brothers, Jim (Carol) Smith of Warren and Richard (Ina) Smith of Antwerp. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Levelle and Lisa Smith. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 10am -12pm at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12pm at the funeral home.
