Edith Davis

Edith Davis, 89 of Niles, formally of Cortland died September 21, 2015 at 7:05 am. at Shepard of the Valley in Niles, surrounded by her family. Edith was born March 30, 1926 in West Mecca, a daughter of the late Melvin and Flossie (Lenney) Overmier-Schilliger. Edith worked as a waitress for Perkins Restaurant for several years. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and cooking homemade meals for them. She liked to camp at Holiday Camp Grounds in Andover, enjoyed line dancing, reading books and watching her favorite TV show WWE. Edith was also a member of SCOPE in Niles. She will be sadly missed by her children; Joyce (Jim) Davis, of Hubbard, Lois Fonce, of Niles, James (Judy) Applequist, of Cortland, 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 4 sisters Lucile Campbell, of Michigan, June (Bill) Hall, of Kentuckey, Ruth (Bob) McClearn, of West Farmington, Carol (Ed) Kassay, of Howland, a brother Roy (Linda) Overmier, of Bristolville, several nieces and nephews and her dog and best friend, Zoe the Dachshund. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Davis. They were married on September 27, 1969. Homer died July 17, 2002. Three sister, Gladys Kincaid, Opal Slusher and Eva Quiggle, three brothers, Neal, Howard and Carl Overmier and a grandson Richard Evans also preceded Edith in death. The family would like to thank Shepard of the Valley, in Niles and Hospice of the Valley for all of the care and support they gave Edith during her stay. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel 164 N. High St. Cortland, OH 44410, with Pastor Dale Briggs officiating.
