Services will be 11 AM Monday in St. Joseph Church, for Edward F. Lewis, 75 of Austintown who passed away Thursday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center from complications of lung disease. Edward was born June 20, 1930 in Chicago Ill, the son of Edward and Elsie (Wharf) Lewis and came to the area 30 years ago. He was an army veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Signal Corp. as a 2nd Lt. He retired, after 32 years of service, in 1985 as Production Manager from General Motors Lordstown Plant and had worked at the Coit Road Plant in Cleveland in various positions. Ed was an active member of the church, the Austintown Lions Club, and the G.M. Salary Retirees. He also was an avid Browns Fan, holding season tickets for more than 40 years, golfer, and card player. Edward leaves his wife of more than 38 years, the former Rosemary “Mert” Myers whom he married April 20, 1968 and two sisters; Helen Barshay of Hunt Valley, MD, and Marilyn (Michael) Shutak of Toronto, Ohio. Ed will also be sadly missed by his In-laws, several nieces and nephews, as well as his many friends. Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 PM Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where a Lions service will be held at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request material contributions take the form of donations to St. Joseph Church Catholic Center Fund.
