Edward J. Griffiths of Liverpool, NY died on Thursday at Community General Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Griffiths was born in Warren, OH on Aug. 8, 1920, a son of Edward J. and Nina Waters Griffiths Sr. Edward was a member of the St. Luke Episcopal Church and I.U.E. Local 717. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the European Theater, during World War II and is a member of the 796th AAA of the 10th Armored Division. Mr. Griffiths retired from Packard Electric and also retired from the Youngstown Foundry & Machine Company in 1973. Edward married Mary Margaret Heilman Griffiths, whom passed away July 19, 2003. Survivors include: 1 son, Thomas M. (Lenore) of Jamesville, NY; 1 daughter, Mrs. Rob (Nancy Griffiths) Edgcumbe of Chicago, IL; 2 grandchildren, Sara and Sam Griffiths. He was preceded in death by: his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Luke Episcopal Church with Fr. Donald Hall. Calling hours will be from 4-6 PM Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home – Niles Chapel / 415 Robbins Ave. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made toe the American Cancer Society.
