Edward Libb, 89 Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield for Edward Libb, 89 of Salem who died Saturday morning at Salem Community Hospital. Edward was born July 27, 1923 in Canfield, a son of the late Benjamin and Anna Tomlinson Libb. He graduated from Canfield High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Edward had been a heavy equipment operator for 23 years for the Operating Engineers Local #66. He was a faithful servant of Antioch International Ministries and was co-founder of Bethesda Ministries with his wife, the former Melva Slagle whom he married August 11, 1951. They had also co-managed a church camp in Merom, Indiana. Edward enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Besides his wife, Edward leaves his children, Vicki Ann Young of Louisville, Ohio; Dale Edward (Julie) Libb of Salem, Gayle J. Libb of Washingtonville, Cynthia Kay Hutchison of Hendersonville, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Karen Sahli of New Waterford; two sisters, Margaret Bortmas of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Patricia (Carmen) Pratt of Poland; 2 brothers, Ronald (Patricia) Libb of Columbiana, Rev. Russell (Diana) Libb of Berlin Center; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by a son, Rick Libb; 3 sisters, Dorothy Fink, Sarah Schimley and Betty Ann Libb. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests material tributes take the form of donations to the funeral home to help defray the costs.
