Edward Louis Gross Jr.

Edward L Gross, Jr., age 76 of Newton Falls went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at his home. He was born March 20, 1935 in Shalersville, Ohio the son of the late Edward Louis and Clara Dines Gross Sr. Ed was a 1953 graduate of Johnston High School and attended Youngstown College, majoring in business. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, having served in England and Africa. Ed enjoyed flying, was a private pilot and had his instrument rating and certification in multi engine aircraft. He was a Gold Seal flight instructor for 30 years. He retired in 1991 after 38 years service at Delphi Packard Electric, where he had worked as an extruder operator. Ed was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a 52 year member of Gustavus Masonic Lodge No. 442 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Youngstown, Tadmor Shrine Temple AAONMS in Akron, Ali Baba Grotto, Aiea Shrine Temple in Honolulu and honorary member of Aloha Temple, member of Clan No. 16 Northern Ohio Grand & Glorious Order of Hillbilly degree and a member of the American Legion. He was a past Patron of Order of the Eastern Star Morning Light Chapt. No. 80 and past Watchman of Shepherds of the Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 42. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jasmine "Jackie" Duey Gross; three daughters, Nikki (Kenneth) Ridenour of Mogadore, M. Sue (Steve) Derr of Southington and Stephanie DeLeo of Peoria, Ariz.; one son, R. Kelly (Brenda) Ross of Newtown, Pa.; ten grandchildren, Jason (fiancee, Bobbie Jo) Ridenour, Carrie (Chad) Hoffman, Isha Marie Cioe, Luke (Linsey) DeLeo, Daniel (Rachel) Derr, Becca and Emily Derr, and Michael, Matthew and Marlainna Ross; three great grandchildren, Gianna and Makayla Cioe and Gunner Derr; two sisters, Carol Core of Cleveland and Phyllis (Steve) Flask of Champion and two brothers, Thomas (Judy) Gross of Kinsman and Kenneth Gross of Lake Milton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Warren. Military honors will take place at the church following the funeral service. Gustavus Lodge No. 442 will conduct masonic services at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Methodist Church memorial fund.
