Lt. Cmdr. Edward McIntosh Jr. of Brookfield, OH passed away Monday afternoon April 1, 2013 in the Sharon Regional Health System following an apparent heart attack. He was seventy-one years old. He was born on April 28, 1941 in Sharon, PA the son of the late Edward and Florence (Everett) McIntosh. He was a 1959 graduate of Brookfield High School and had attended Westminster College before enlisting in the United States Navy Reserves for four years. Ed began his career in the Navy in 1963, and would serve over twenty-one years attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander before his retirement in 1983. He was proud of his military service and considered it an honor to serve his country which he loved so much. Following his discharge he furthered his education at Youngstown State University where he would graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Education which would allow him to teach at biology and sciences at Kennedy Christian High School in Hermitage for over ten years. Mr. McIntosh was a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church where he had served at an Elder. He was an avid golfer, and had loved his time working for Hidden Oaks Golf Course in Vienna where he had served as the former secretary of the Friday Night League there. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, gardening, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his wife of near fifty years the former Lila M. Hacker whom he married on June 8, 1963; their four children Edward McIntosh III of Brookfield, Bruce McIntosh of Boardman, OH, Susan McIntosh of Brookfield, OH, and Jeanne (Jeff) McGarry of Hubbard, OH; eight grandchildren David (Amanda), Megan, Bruce, Abby (Kevin), Katie, Edward IV, Sam, and Paul; three great-grandchildren Riley, Lily, and Reese; and three brothers Doug (Carol) McIntosh of Mantua, OH, Ron McIntosh of Niles, OH, and Gordon (Alisande) McIntosh of Morris, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his infant brother David. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM Saturday morning at the funeral home where military honors will be observed.
