Edward Whittaker

Mineral Ridge- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home-Mineral Ridge Chapel for Edward Whittaker, age 86 of Mineral Ridge who died late Tuesday evening at Humility House in Austintown. Ed was born May 31, 1918 in Mineral Ridge and was the son of Edward and May (James) Whittaker. He retired in 1983 from R.M.I. where he had been a welder. He was a member of the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, Moose Lodge in Niles, and the Retired R.M.I. Workers. Ed was also graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, had served in the Army during WWII receiving the Bronze Star , Good Conduct Medal, Occupational Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Meritorious Unit Award. His wife, the former Bernice Keeling whom he married Nov. 23, 1928 died February 20, 2004. He leaves a daughter April Whittaker Muir of Niles, a son Jeffrey Whittaker of Conneaut, OH, a daughter-in-law Pam Whittaker of Mineral Ridge, a sister Evelyn Piccione of Austintown, a brother Robert Whittaker of Columbus, OH and three grandchildren, Edward Whittaker, Amy Whittaker, Jamie Muir (Chris) Haley and two great grandchildren Aliyah Tipton and Jack Christopher Haley. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son Edward Whittaker. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that material contributions be made to the E.Z. Whittaker Scholarship Fund.
