Eleanor Susie Gentile, age 79 of Canfield, Ohio, died at 8:40 AM on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Austinwoods Nursing Home in Austintown. She was born on June 13, 1936 in Sugar Creek Twp., PA, the daughter of the late Claude Robert and Florence Rachel Stone Morris. Eleanor was a 1955 Austintown Fitch High School graduate and worked as a cashier for Loblaw's Grocery Store and then finished her career at an Independent Grocers on the corner of Market Street and Midlothian in Youngstown. She loved to fish and deer hunt with her husband, Sam, and quickly learned the art of cooking Italian food especially homemade pasta, which her husband, Sam, loved. She also specialized in homemade cherry pie and buckeyes for her children and grandchildren. Eleanor gave her life to Jesus Christ as her Savior on May 18, 1972 and was married to Samuel James Gentile, Sr. on July 22, 1972, he preceded her in death on January 1, 2005. She helped establish and was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church in Ellsworth, Ohio. Survivors include her three step-children, Pastor Samuel J. "Sam" (Edna) Gentile of Canfield, Shirley Neider of Struthers, and Janet (Robert) Mesol of Struthers; 13 step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Kanchok of Lehigh Acres, FL; nieces and nephews, Evelyn Kanchok, Ruth Hedglin, Arnold Kanchok, and Robert Morris. Other than her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by one step-grandson, and two sisters, Sarah Morris, and Margaret Granlee. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel at 11 AM, Friday, September 4, 2015 where her step-son will celebrate Eleanor's life. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Eleanor will be laid to rest next to her husband in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
