Eleanore Jane Dechellis

Eleanore Jane DeChellis, of Canfield, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. She was 92 years old. Mrs. DeChellis was born on April 7, 1919 in Beaver Falls, PA the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Leppert) Ross and graduated from Beaver Falls High School. A homemaker, Mrs. DeChellis was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield and was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and St. Brendan Catholic Church both in Youngstown. She was an avid dancer at the Pointview and other area Ballrooms. Mrs. DeChellis was married on May 12, 1943 to Louis R. DeChellis Sr. and they were married for 37 years until his passing on September 28, 1980 and together they shared the love of two sons Louis R. (Darlene) DeChellis Jr. of Canfield and Sam DeChellis of Columbus; two granddaughters Tammy Rakoff and Lori (Ken) Keich and two great grandsons Cody Rakoff and Jimmy Clacko. Mrs. DeChellis is also survived by two sisters Norma Krivak of Monroe Falls, Ohio and Gloria Androla of Chippewa, PA; and a brother Jack Ross of New Brighton, PA. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. DeChellis was preceded in death by a brother Raymond Ross and two sisters Edith Filipone and Mildred Lebio. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 5 until 8 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St. Canfield, Ohio 44406. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Terrence J. Hazel officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be said at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mrs. DeChellis' name to St. Michael Catholic Church 281 Glenview Drive, Canfield, Ohio 44406. The family would like to offer thanks to all of the Staff at Assumption Village Nursing Center and especially to Jerri Valingo and Debbie Hanlon for all of the love and care that was shown to Mrs. DeChellis and for giving peace and comfort to her in her final days.
