Born in New Jersey on October 2, 1924 to parents Arthur and Blanch Woodin, Elinor lived most of her childhood in the small town and beautiful countryside of Endeavor, Pennsylvania with her immediate and extended family. Upon graduation from Hickory High School in 1942, she attended technical school in Boston where she obtained her degree in 1944. Elinor then began work as a laboratory technician at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. In Warren, Elinor met Bob Gray, the love of her life and her best friend. They married on May 7, 1948 after completion of Bob’s service in the United States Army during World War II. Elinor and Bob resided in Italy for six years where Bob taught children of military parents, and together they traveled much of Europe. In 1962, they returned home to Warren, Ohio, where they resided the remainder of their years. Upon return to Warren, Elinor began her many years of service as a volunteer to numerous organizations, including the Red Cross and Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where she served as a dedicated volunteer for over 30 years. Elinor was a generous supporter of many charities throughout her lifetime and had a love of all animals. She was devoted to her family and shared countless happy memories with her mother, Blanch, and her sister, Helen Joyce. Elinor is survived by her sister, Helen Joyce Woodin Smith, of Erie, Pennsylvania; nephews Paul Arthur Smith of Endeavor, Pennsylvania and Bruce Gorman Smith of Knox, Pennsylvania; niece Lisa Smith Presta of Erie, Pennsylvania; several old friends, and many kind neighbors.
