Elizabeth “Betty” Tristana of 3334 Franklin Avenue, Hubbard, Ohio, died on Tuesday (2-13-2007) at home. She was 99. Mrs. Tristana was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1907, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Lescisin) Melnik. A 1925 graduate from Brookfield High School, Betty was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hubbard, and formerly a member at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage, Pennsylvania. She was a homemaker and in her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, and flowers, especially growing violets. Many nieces and nephews survive as well as great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, John J. Tristana, whom she married in 1942, he died in 1965; by her brothers, Michael & Andrew Melnik; and by her sisters, Ann Melnik, Dorothy Melnik, Mary Cowhey, Julia Varty, & Helen Corll. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 12-1 PM. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
