Elwood Lee Peterson, 63, of Youngstown died Saturday, August 6, 2006 at 12:20PM in the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. Born September 1, 1942 in Vernon, OH he was the son of the late John H. Peterson and Irene (McCool) Peterson Ebbs. His mother Irene passed away Saturday evening, August 12, 2006. A United States Army veteran, Elwood served from 1961 to 1963. He was part of the 33rd armored division. After an honorable discharge form the Army, Elwood began work at General Motors Lordstown plant where he worked as an assembler. He retired in 1990. Elwood enjoyed science fiction movies and was a John Wayne fan. He was an avid bowler. He was very active in the Cub Scouts pack #64 of Braceville and pack #110 of Warren and the Boy Scouts Troup #101 of Warren when his two sons were younger. He is survived by two sons, Bryan Andrew Peterson and Jeffrey Charles (Judy) Peterson both of Youngstown, 4 granddaughters, Deana, Amanda, Elisa, and Eva, and by a brother John Peterson Sr. of Warren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John H. Jr. and James Peterson and by a sister Rosalind Nellie Peterson. Calling hours will be held for both Elwood and his mother Irene M. Peterson Ebbs on Wednesday at the Roberts Clark Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8PM. Rev. Earl Hearn will conduct a funeral service Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial for both will be in the Champion Twp. Cemetery. Military honors for Elwood will be observed at the cemetery.
