Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Emma Mae Alcott of Canfield who passed away on Monday evening at the Assumption Village Care Center in North Lima. Emma was born February 17, 1915 in Youngstown the daughter of William H. and Elsie (Pilgrim) Gardinier. She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Chaney High School Class of 1933. A superb homemaker, Emma was a long time member and treasurer of the Canfield Christian Church. She was also active in many community groups including Canfield AARP, All Seasons Garden Club, Canfield Women’s Republican Club, Canfield Extension Club, the Canfield Historical Society, the Ruritan, Friends of the Library, Newfair Book Club, and Sujettes Bridge Club. She also loved needlework, sewing, music, travel, reading, scrap booking, and entertaining. Emma leaves five children: Marilyn (Mike) Leymaster of Galena, OH, Dr. William H. (Karen) Alcott of Findlay, OH, Raymond (Diane) Alcott of Canfield, Glenn (Teri) Alcott of Youngstown, and Virginia (Steve) Domer of Mesa, AZ. She also leaves a sister Frances Brumbeau of Youngstown and 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Leymaster (Sophie), Dr.Michael (Dr.Kirsten) Leymaster, Alexis (Ben) Alcott, Courtney Alcott, Tyler Alcott, Bryan (Michelle) Alcott, Rebecca (W. Ashton) Haus, Christopher (Thetis) Alcott, Kristen (Rick) Ackerman, and Erica Domer. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren and five first cousins. Emma was preceded in death by her husband Herbert S. Alcott whom she married May 19, 1939 and died May 2, 1983 as well as a sister Dorothy Bechtelheimer and a brother Wilson Gardinier. Friends and family may call from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home, two hours prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Canfield Christian Church Memorial Fund at 123 S. Broad St. Canfield, OH 44406.
