Ernest S. Overdorf Sr.

Austintown-Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Ernest Overdorf Sr. who died Thursday morning. Ernie was born September 4, 1923 in Jersey Shore, PA. the son of Asher and Edna (Ryan) Overdorf. Ernie retired from LTV Steel in 1985 after working there and the former Republic Steel for over 30 years. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, member of V.F.W. Post 93 in Boardman and a member of Western Star Lodge #21 F&AM. Ernie loved to hunt and fish, he also loved to stock fish in Pa. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (McMichael) Overdorf whom he married August 17, 1946, daughter Carol Shackelford and son Ernest S. Overdorf Jr. both from Youngstown. Ernie is also survived by brothers; Peter of Akron, James of Jersey Shore, PA., Richard in Washington State and sister Gladys Brown in Sequin, TX., grandchildren: Steven Durrett, Carrie Whitehouse, Kelly Garl, Jill Overdorf and great grandchildren; Carissa Whitehouse, Rhianna Durrett, Allison Garl and Andruw Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Gyla Huffman, Leigh Overdorf, Lucille McDaniel, Edna Parker and brothers, Walter and Tillman. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
