Erven Robinson

Erven "Skip" Robinson Erven "Skip" Robinson, eighty-nine, died at his home in Austintown on the evening of April 25th. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Connie M. Robinson, his children Rick Robinson (Patricia Lorek) of Boulder, CO; Alexa Robinson-ONeill (Robert ONeill) of Granville, OH; his grandchildren Ellen ONeill of St. Louis, MO, Alex ONeill of Colorado Springs, CO, Georgia Robinson of Boulder, CO, and his brother Sam Robinson, who lives in Palo Alto, CA. Born in Bellaire, Ohio on February 10, 1930, he was the youngest child of the late Cecil and Georgia McConnell Robinson. He was preceded in death by his sisters and their spouses Hilda and Bill Schleicher and Jessie and Ted Fry, and his sister-in-law, Joan Robinson. Skip graduated from Bellaire High School, where he played football and ran track, in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1954, stationed in Texas, Florida, and Japan as a Jet Engine Specialist. Upon discharge he completed his BS in Industrial Arts Education from Kent State University in 1956 and an MEd in Educational Administration from Kent State in 1959. He taught industrial arts and drafting in the Austintown school district for 40 years at Fitch High School and Frank Ohl Middle school until his retirement 1996, and was instrumental in the design and planning of the Industrial Arts wing at Frank Ohl. He enjoyed following the careers and successes of his former students, and joked that he needed to retire when his students were the grandchildren of those he had taught earlier. Skip was an Owner and Driver/Trainer in the United States Trotting Association, racing standardbred horses at the Canfield Fairgrounds and other area harness racing tracks from 1960 until the early 1970s. He was a devoted golfer who played for many years with his friends and colleagues in the Teachers Golf Association at Mill Creek Park Golf Course. He cherished his extended family, leaving his sisters-in-law Madalyne (Tom) Pauley of Canfield and Sharen (Jerry) Cope, of Salem as well as beloved nieces and nephews Gary (Kathleen) Fry, JoAnn (Jim) Ault, Jeff (Lucy) Schleicher, Jennifer (Ben) Taylor, Breck Robinson, Amy Robinson, Glade (Anne) Pauley, Greg (Nancy) Pauley, Stephanie (Kent) Winegar, Garth Pauley, Michael (Mary Catherine) Bishop, Jenny (Ray) Beil, Mandi Bishop, Paul Bishop, Stacie Bishop and their equally beloved children.
