Esther B. Smith

Esther B. (Davis) Smith, age 90, of Champion Twp., Ohio, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 1:30 AM at Windsor House of Champion in Warren, Ohio. She was born on Feb. 26, 1916 in Youngstown, OH., the daughter of the late Benjamin Davis and Anna Vincent Davis. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Champion where she was a member of the Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, and the chancel choir. She had also served as treasurer and was on the Hospitality Committee. She was a Co-owner of Albert Smith and Son Garage Door Co., but had spent much of her life working as a homemaker. She was an avid golfer and bowler for many years, and enjoyed crocheting many different keepsakes. Mrs Smith will be remembered as a woman who loved her family. Her husband, Albert 'Jack' C. Smith Sr., whom she married on May 28, 1938, preceded her in death in 1975. She is survived by two sons, Albert 'Clint' Smith Jr. of Amsterdam, OH., and Raymond E. Smith of Johnston Twp., Two sisters, Lillian Shoff of Vienna, OH., and Mary Fiyalko of Avon Lake, OH., seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna J. Lytle, sister Florence Walters, and three brothers, Benjamin Davis, Edmund Davis and Raymond Davis. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM today, May 6, 2006. Funeral service will be at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM.
