Esther Bretschneider

Esther Bretschneider of Canfield, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Hampton Woods Nursing Center in Poland. She was 86 years old. Mrs. Bretschneider was born on June 30, 1924 in Youngstown the daughter of the late Griffith and Helen (Hewitt) Williams and was a graduate of Boardman High School. A homemaker, Mrs. Bretschneider enjoyed working at the Canfield Auto Auction and the Canfield Fair. She was a very active and 55 year member of Canfield Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered her time with many activities and social events. She was a member of the Friendship Club of Canfield, CCL, Bridge-O-Rama and the Sevakeen Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and golfer. Mrs. Bretschneider was married on March 30, 1946 to Bernard E. Bretschneider and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1995. Mrs. Bretschneider is survived by three children Linda (Charles) Mallue of Windermere, Fl; Jeannie Bretschneider of Florence, KY and Mark B. (Marjorie) Bretschneider of Lake Milton; five grandchildren Chip (Monica) Mallue, Jeff (Eliza) Mallue, Scott (Francine) Mallue and Blake Bretschneider and four great granddaughters. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Bretschneider was preceded in death by an infant son William Bretschneider; a grandson Ryan Bretschneider and two sisters Mary Jane Miller and Lois Audrey Starr. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2 until 4 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield and again on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 9 until 10 a.m. in Canfield Presbyterian Church 140 W. Main St., Canfield. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Canfield Presbyterian Church. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Hampton Woods Care Center in Poland for all of the care and love that they showed to Mrs. Bretschneider and in helping to make her final days very peaceful. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mrs. Bretschneider's name to the memorial fund at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St. Canfield, Ohio 44406.
