Eugene E. "Gene" Burnett, 89 of Leavittsburg, died Sunday morning, April 19, 2015, at his home. He was born February 28, 1926 in Warren, the son of the late Stephen Franklin and Gertrude A. Lenhart Burnett. He had been a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Gene attended Harding High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II as a radioman. He retired after over 30 years as a salesman at Trumbull (Supply) Plumbing in Austintown. Gene was an avid golfer and bowler, bowling on area leagues. He was a past scoutmaster for the cub and boy scouts with Troop 8 in Leavittsburg, when his sons were in scouting. He enjoyed playing cards and being outside doing yardwork. Gene is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Alois W. Eslinger Burnett, whom he married June 11, 1953; two daughters, Denise L. Danch of Newton Falls and Tina M. (John) Pavlak of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Keith E. (Kim) Burnett of Leavittsburg and Timothy "Timmy" Burnett of Warren; eleven grandchildren, Melissa and Matt Testa, Keith and Michael Burnett, Alix Wishart, Courtney Pavlak and Alaina, Paula, Tyler, Kyle and Jillian Burnett and two great grandsons, James and Austin and one great grandchild on the way. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Memorial contributions may be made to MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
