Berlin Center- Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Eugene Baringer who died Monday afternoon at his residence. Eugene was born November 11, 1940 in Alliance the son of Ivan and Mildred (Obney) Baringer and was a life long area resident. Eugene retired in 1996 from the Ohio Department of Transportation after 30 years of employment. He was a member of Berlin Center United Methodist Church, sang in the Salem Barbershop Quartet for 25 years, loved to restore tractors, graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1959 and worked and showed sheep at the Canfield Fair for 57 years. Eugene is survived by his wife Carol (Sherman) Baringer, daughters; Michelle (John) McCoy of Leetonia, Barbara (Joseph) Doran of Ocala, FL. stepsons; Zeke (Susan) Helmick of Kilbuck, OH, Richard (Denise) Helmick and Charles (Kathy) Helmick both of Akron. He is also survived by grandsons; Kenneth Gordon and J.P. McCoy and granddaughters; Ksandra, Toni, Vickie. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to Alliance Hospice.
