Evelyn Ann Thayer

Evelyn Ann Thayer, 91, of Warren, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 19, 2010 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born August 5, 1918 in Punxsutawney, PA, Evelyn was the daughter of the late David and Maude (Williams) Harl. An area resident for most of her life, Evelyn retired in 1983 from the Strouss Department Store where she worked as a jewelry buyer for 35 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McDonald, was the past president of the Warren Emblem Club #397, Treasurer of the Warren Women’s Republican Club, an avid knitter and was a member of the Trumbull County Knitters Guild. She was preceded in death in 1982 by her husband Bennett E. Thayer whom she married Aug. 9, 1937. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her daughter Mrs. John (Carol) Lewis of Howland Twp, four grandchildren, Al Cyples of Cleveland, John B. (Ginger) Lewis of Lawrenceville, NJ, David T. (Jolene) Lewis of Howland Township, and Tim A. (Valerie) Lewis of Liberty, 13 great grandchildren, Lacy (Tom) Riegert, Lindsey Cyples, Kelly (Dave) Ginter, David (Beth) Lewis Jr., Tommy and Emily Lewis, J.T. Sidor, Regan Horn, and Geoffrey, Daniel, Victoria, Zachary and Nicholas Lewis, three great great grandchildren, Dylan and Brianna Lewis and David Ginter, a brother David M. Harl III of Warren and two nieces Diane (Bill) Holko and Barb (Dave) Leasia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and by a granddaughter Sherri Cyples. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6 until 8PM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel. Pastor Michael Setser will conduct a funeral service Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, 2010 at 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Crown Hill Burial Park. The family has requested that material contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of McDonald or to Shepherd of the Valley in Howland.
