Evelyn Belle Mackenzie

January 15, 1922 — February 17, 2012

Evelyn Belle McAdoo Harvey MacKenzie was born on January 15, 1922 in Hartstown, PA and passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center. She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding and a talented writer who contributed to several Kent State anthologies and published two books of poetry. She worked at Packard Electric for sixteen years and volunteered for many years at the American Red Cross. She is an auxiliary member of both the Eagles and Moose. She was also a life-long member of the Second Christian Church. She loved traveling and did so extensively. She covered the United States from coast to coast and vacationed in Europe twice. Evelyn is survived by a daughter Cheryl Harvey (Christopher) Hill of Las Vegas, NV, a granddaughter Larann Jane Pirtle and two great granddaughters Landon Evelyn and Sydney KC Pirtle of Boise, ID. She was also a second mother and babysitter, affectionately called "Nan" to her Marchek nephews and nieces, Robert, Michael, David, Sandra Naylor and Melissa Marino. She will be dearly missed by all of her incredible extended family which included the sir names Harvey, Marchek, Hill, Naylor, McAdoo, Proper, Wareham, Peck, Fletcher, and her devoted friend Betty Jamison. Her son, Richard F. Harvey lost his life in a tragic auto accident in 2009. Her brother, James McAdoo, sisters, Geraldine J. Proper, Betty Ann Penrod Doersam, Deloras R. Marchek and former husbands William R. Harvey and Ian S. MacKenzie, all preceded her in death. According to her wishes she will be cremated and placed near her parents, William Floyd and Jane Ann (Whitmore) McAdoo, at Rocky Glenn Cemetery in Adamsville, PA. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Evelyn's memory to the VFW post 1090 at 611 High Street Warren, OH 44483.
